"Well, kiki's had cookies- don't worry, it was the oat and raisin ones! - and some milk cos you know how cranky she gets when shes hungry! I think shes actually sleeping under the kitchen table at the moment....we should probably just put a mattress under  there for her!  The rest of us haven't eaten yet - we were waiting on you!  Breakfasts on the table - and no, i didn't let toni near the stove!"

*Grins at Momma as she kisses my forehead and skips off downstairs slightly ahead of momma.  Leaning down under the kitchen table, i lift kiki out and balance her on my hip, turning to face the door so i can see mommas face when she sees the room*

I follow Willa downstairs and to the kitchen. When I reach it and see all of the decorations and pile of presents and table set my jaw drops.

"Oh, you guys! You didn't have to do all of this!" I move to give each one a hug and kiss with a big grin.

Seeing Toni and Kiki being really excited I giggle and say, "whoa, guys. Take it down a notch or two. I haven't had any coffee yet!"

Hearing Kiki I give her an extra kiss at my 'new name' and remark, "well thank you, honey. And your calling me that makes this birthday even more special."

"Toni, shouldn't your having blown up these balloons mean that you're tired instead of hyper?" I ask, teasing her lightly.

I smile when Iona says happy birthday and gently tell her, "thank you, honey." She and I have had what you might call a rough start and so hearing her say that helps me to know things will be okay.
